Teak is a tropical hardwood prized for its exceptional strength, natural oils, and rich golden-brown colour. Because it’s dense and naturally resistant to water, rot, and insects, teak has been used for centuries in boat building, outdoor furniture, and high-end joinery. It requires very little maintenance compared to other woods and can last for decades, even outdoors.

Freshly cut teak ranges from warm golden brown to rich honey tones. Over time, when exposed to sunlight and rain, the surface naturally weathers to a soft silvery grey. This is a normal, natural process caused by the sun’s UV rays and oxidation of the wood’s oils. Some people love the elegant, aged patina; if you prefer to keep the warm brown colour, you can apply Teak Shield once or twice a year.

A mortise and tenon joint is one of the strongest and oldest woodworking methods. The tenon is a shaped projection at the end of one piece of wood that fits perfectly into a matching mortise (a slot or hole) in another piece. When glued or pegged, this creates an extremely durable, long-lasting joint — perfect for furniture that needs to withstand years of use and outdoor conditions.

Grade A teak comes from the dense inner heartwood of mature trees and is rich golden brown, with tight grain and high natural oil content, making it extremely strong, weather-resistant and ideal for premium outdoor furniture. Grade B teak is taken from the outer heartwood; it’s slightly lighter in colour, has less oil and a more varied grain, so while still good quality, it may need more care to stay protected outdoors. Grade C teak comes from the softer sapwood on the outside of the tree; it’s pale, lower in oil, less durable and generally better suited for indoor use or decorative pieces. For long-lasting outdoor furniture that can handle the elements with minimal upkeep, Grade A teak is the best choice.

Rattan furniture is made from the slender, flexible stems of the rattan palm, a climbing plant native to tropical regions. The canes are peeled, shaped and woven to create lightweight yet strong furniture with a natural, relaxed look. Many of our rattan pieces are made with synthetic rattan over aluminium frames — this version is highly durable, weather-resistant and ideal for outdoor use.

Our teak is sourced from the sustainable plantations of Perum Perhutani, on the island of Java. These plantations are owned and managed by the government who have a strict policy with regard to the age, size and number of trees felled each year, together with a comprehensive sustainable replanting program.

We produce furniture with many finishes, from teak-oil to lacquer or from fine sanded to distressed. Simply let us know your requirements - you shall not be disappointed.

Some of our furniture is constructed using brass fittings. We recommend that all moving parts are checked for tightness at regular intervals. The process of folding and unfolding chairs for example can, over time, loosen fittings. Please note that brassware will patinate/tarnish in the open air.

Where required, all of our furniture is constructed in the time-honoured fashion of tight fitting mortise and tenon joints with teak dowels. This ensures robust, wobble-free furniture equally at home in your garden, or the high traffic areas of luxury hotels. Ours is the specifier's choice!

Yes, we use certified sustainable timber for our wooden parasol poles. The wood has been sourced from certified forests that meet the highest environmental and social standards.

The majority of our dining tables and companion seats come with a pre-drilled hole to allow the use of a parasol. Each hole is fitted with a teak stopper, which is designed to sit flush with the surrounding surface when installed, making it as discreet as possible when a parasol is not required.

To remove the stopper, gently tap it from underneath the table top or seat so that it pops out without causing any splintering. Please note that once the stopper has been removed, it can be reinserted when not in use; however, it may no longer sit perfectly flush with the surrounding surface. The stopper is only guaranteed to be completely flush before it has been removed.

Yes — high-quality Grade A teak can stay outside all year without rotting or warping. Its natural oils and dense grain protect it from rain, sun, and frost better than almost any other wood. Over time, the surface will weather to a silvery grey patina, which many people love. If you prefer to keep the original warm brown colour, you’ll need to apply Teak Shield or Teak protector once or twice a year.

Teak furniture doesn’t need to be treated to stay strong and durable — it naturally contains oils that protect it from rain, sun and insects, so it can last for decades outdoors without rotting or warping. Treating teak is mostly about appearance: if you love the warm golden-brown colour, you can apply a teak sealer or protector once or twice a year to slow the natural weathering process. If you prefer the elegant silver-grey patina that develops over time, you can simply leave the wood untreated. It’s best to avoid varnish or paint, as these can crack and peel on teak’s oily surface.

We suggest cleaning your teak wood outdoor furniture annually, preferably in the spring on a fair, breezy day so that the teak may dry off quickly.

The best way to clean your teak furniture is to scrub it down with a solution of soapy water and a splash of either white vinegar or bleach. You can then hose it down (at a normal water pressure) to remove the soapy solution and any build-up of dirt, grime, bird-droppings and so on. Please do not use a pressure or power washer as these will loosen the joints and strip away teak's natural, protective oils.

You can remove stubborn stains with a light sanding with very fine sandpaper in the direction of the grain. Don’t worry about the lighter patch that will now appear where you sanded, it will gradually even out to the same colour as the rest of the teak.

We also sell Teak Cleaner to help brighten weathered teak and kill off mould and mildew.

You can then treat the wood as you wish (we recommend either our Teak Protector or Teak Shield), or even leave the teak untreated at this point.

Our synthetic rattan garden furniture is delightfully low-maintenance and does not need much in the way of caring for. To care for your rattan garden furniture, you should vacuum it with a brush attachment to reach any dirt and dust that has built up in the crevices of the wicker. You can also use a brush or even a toothbrush. You should also wash your rattan furniture periodically with warm, soapy water or simply hose your wicker furniture down.

Teak can develop small cracks or “checking” as it naturally adjusts to changes in temperature and humidity. Because teak is a dense, oily hardwood, the surface sometimes expands and contracts slightly as it dries or absorbs moisture. This can cause fine hairline splits on the ends or surface, especially when the wood is new and still settling. These cracks are usually superficial and don’t affect the strength or durability of the furniture — in fact, they’re a normal sign of solid wood reacting to its environment. Keeping teak clean and occasionally applying Teak Shield can help minimise movement, but some small cracks are perfectly natural.

We strongly recommend against using teak oil – and any other oils including linseed, Tung, and Danish oils! These oils destroy teak’s naturally occurring protective oils, making it dependant on continuous applications to stop it from drying out, so once you start oiling teak garden furniture you’ll need to continue to do so. Teak oil is also more likely to encourage mildew growth and black spots, and teak that has been oiled will colour unevenly as it ages.

Teak can be left outside, untreated, although there are a number of water-based treatments should you wish to treat your furniture, including Teak Shield and Teak Protectors, depending on the colour you’d like your teak to be; either its original honey-gold colour, or a weathered silvery-grey. We can’t stress enough how strongly we recommend against the use of wood oils.

Left untreated and exposed to the elements, teak will weather to a beautiful silver grey patina and darken slightly if kept indoors. Should you wish to maintain its colour, we would recommend applying our Teak Protector, which will help your teak furniture maintain its colour for a much longer period.

We would suggest that you clean and strip the linseed oil now rather than waiting. Linseed oil sits on the surface of dense hardwoods like teak instead of absorbing properly. Over time, this trapped surface moisture can attract mildew, causing the wood to turn a dark, patchy black rather than a clean, natural silver grey.

If left alone, the wood will eventually weather, but the linseed oil will significantly delay the natural silvering process and likely cause uneven discoloration. Stripping it now ensures a uniform look.

Strip the linseed oil: Use a dedicated, heavy-duty teak cleaner or a wood stripper. This will break down the fresh linseed oil layer and pull the dark pigments out of the wood grain.

Scrub and rinse: Use a medium-bristle scrubbing brush along the direction of the wood grain to lift the oil, then rinse thoroughly with water.

The final finish: Once completely dry, the teak cleaner will leave the wood looking clean and fresh. From there, you can choose your preferred path:

• For a natural silver finish: Leave the cleaned wood completely bare. It will naturally weather to a beautiful silvery-gray color over the coming months.
• For a honey-brown finish: Apply a specialized Teak Protector or Teak Sealer (which blocks UV rays to keep the golden color) rather than an oil.

Yes, teak wood is sustainable. The teak we use for our furniture doesn’t come from natural forests; it comes from legal, regulated government plantations. Plantation teak is a renewable resource as it’s farmed to produce a sustainable supply.

Trees are planted exclusively to be utilised for commercial use, etc. and more trees are replanted in accordance with government guidelines.

The natural oils in teak make it naturally pest resistant, therefore teak can be grown without the use of insecticides and chemicals. Also, teak grows without artificial fertilizers and heavy irrigation, making it an eco-friendly choice.

Leftovers from teak production can be recycled or returned to the earth without damaging the environment.

Teak furniture is durable and built to last so you won’t be discarding and replacing every few years.

Plantation teak is teak that has been grown on sustainable plantations for the sole purpose of forestry management for either commercial or ecological uses. Plantation teak is a renewable resource as it’s farmed to produce a sustainable supply.

SVLK (Sistem Verificasi Legalitas Kayu) is Indonesia’s mandatory national timber legality and sustainability certification system, also known as the Indonesian Timber Legality Assurance System (INDO-TLAS).

Yes, all our chairs and tables have been designed with the principle of 'form following function'. Therefore most of our chairs, benches and tables share similar proportions and can easily be mixed and matched. Of course, we can also manufacture bespoke sizes and designs should you require this service.

Furthermore, if you order an item and decide you do not like it upon delivery, you are within your rights to refuse the item and our driver will take it away. You will be fully refunded within 14 calendar days.

Where possible, our furniture is delivered fully assembled for your stress-free, immediate enjoyment. In some cases, some minor assembly may be required. It may be possible to deliver some items flat-packed if you prefer or there are access issues. We may even be able to arrange assembly in situ for a small additional cost.

By limiting our deliveries to mainland England, Wales and parts of Scotland on a bi-weekly basis we are able to offer an efficient service to the majority of the population. However, as a result, we regret we are unable to deliver to islands off England and Wales, Northern Ireland or the Scottish highlands and islands.

We fulfil most of our deliveries with our own vehicle fleet and trained drivers in order to maintain a high level of customer service and to minimise damage in transit. Some smaller items may be sent via Royal Mail or a courier and will generally be dispatched within 3 working days from receipt of order.

We don’t provide a text or email alert service, however, if you request so beforehand, our drivers are able to call you when they’re half hour away.

We understand it can be frustrating and inconvenient to wait at home all day for a delivery. If we have access to the garden or you specify a safe place for us to leave your items, perhaps in a shed or with a neighbour, then you don’t have to be at home when we deliver.

We aim to deliver within two weeks of receipt of order, although in some cases this will be much sooner. Bespoke items and items that we don’t have in stock could take 8-10 weeks. If you have an urgent requirement for furniture, we shall endeavour to deliver within a very short time-frame – please let us know, and if we can help we will.

We deliver between 07:00 and 19:00 hours. We are unable to specify a time, although you can tell us if you’d prefer a morning or afternoon delivery and we will try our best to accommodate. You can also call us up so that we can track our drivers to give you an estimation of their arrival.

You can collect items from our Coulsdon showroom but you should call ahead on 020 8655 6242 to ensure that we have the stock available to avoid a wasted journey. We also recommend a vehicle that is suitable to transport your furniture!

After you place an order with us, we will then get in touch with you to arrange a convenient delivery date.

We warrant for a period of one year that our teak and rattan furniture is fit for its intended purpose and free from manufacturer faults or defects. This does not include small cracks or end grain checking which are natural occurrences and do not affect the integrity of your furniture. For more information, please refer to the warranty section of this website.

Pre-ordering means ordering an item that is currently not in stock.

The advantage of pre-ordering, is that the item is ‘ring-fenced’ for delivery to yourself as soon as it comes in stock.

If a product is temporarily out-of-stock, it will be stated clearly, as the usual ‘Add to Basket’ button will be replaced by a ‘Pre-Order’ button.

Additionally, once the item has been selected, a date displayed indicates when the item is scheduled to arrive into our warehouse.

We deliver throughout the country, over a 2-week cycle, therefore, depending on your delivery postcode, you should receive your order between 1 to 14 days from the scheduled date.

Under UK consumer law, bespoke furniture supplied to private individuals must:

- Be of satisfactory quality
- Be fit for its intended purpose
- Match the description and approved specifications

If your furniture does not meet these standards, you are entitled to remedies in accordance with the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Because bespoke furniture is made to your specific requirements, the usual 14-day cancellation right for online purchases does not apply once production has begun (Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 - made-to-measure exemption).

Production begins once:

- You have approved your quotation
- CAD drawings (where applicable) have been signed off
- Your deposit / payment has been received

Please review all dimensions carefully prior to approval. We manufacture strictly in accordance with your signed specification.

Changes after approval may:

- Incur additional charges
- Extend the delivery timeline

All furniture is handcrafted using solid timber. A manufacturing tolerance of approximately ±10mm on overall dimensions may occur due to:

- Natural material movement
- Hand-finishing processes
- Environmental conditions

This tolerance is considered reasonable and industry standard for bespoke timber furniture and does not constitute a fault under the Consumer Rights Act, provided the furniture matches the agreed specification within this margin.

If your project requires tighter tolerances (e.g., architectural integration), please notify us in writing before production.

Our furniture is crafted from premium-grade teak and other natural materials. Natural characteristics include:

- Variations in colour and grain
- Weather to a silver-grey patina
- Minor surfacing checking or movement
- Small organic markings

These are not defects but inherent features of solid timber and outdoor materials.

Typical bespoke lead times are 8-10 weeks from final approval.

Delivery dates are estimates and may be affected by:

- Material availability
- Public holidays
- Shipping schedules
- Circumstances beyond our reasonable control

If we fail to deliver within a reasonable timeframe and this constitutes a breach in contract, your statutory remedies will apply.

Because bespoke furniture is made to your individual specification:

- Orders cannot be cancelled once products has commenced
- Deposits are non-refundable after production begins

This reflects the legal exemption for made-to-measure goods under UK consumer regulations.

If cancellation is requested before production begins, we will confirm whether any material costs have already been incurred.

We provide a structural warranty of 1 year, covering manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship.

This warranty does not cover:

- Normal weathering
- Failure to follow maintenance guidance
- Damage caused by misuse or improper installation
- Natural timber movement within reasonable limits

This warranty operates in addition to and does not replace your statutory rights.

We accept orders from single items to full container loads to the UK, or other destinations by negotiation. Please let us know your requirements and we shall be as accommodating as possible.

In general, for trade orders we deliver flat-packed (KD) furniture in corrugated cardboard, with assembled furniture protected by single-face corrugated paper. If the item of furniture is ‘finished’ we use a foam sheet between the surface of the furniture and the single-face packing material.

However, our packaging is dependent on your requirements so please let us know if you require your furniture fully assembled or have alternative instructions.

Full container load (FCL) shipping is a type of ocean freight used for transporting large or bulk goods across the ocean. We are FCL specialists so you can purchase FCLs from us should you wish to order large quantities of items from us and therefore take advantage of our best-buy, bulk order pricing.

Less than container load (LCL) shipping is a type of ocean freight used for shipping goods across the ocean. This method is ideal if there are only a few pallets to ship and there isn’t enough to fill a full container load (FCL). The contents of the container will belong to many senders, as opposed to FCL shipping.

We can manufacture a production sample for dispatch on your account via a courier such as TNT, DHL or FedEx.

For your safety, all our containers are fumigated after stuffing and prior to export. Additionally, sachets of water-absorbing silica gel are placed inside the boxes of flat-packed items of furniture to maintain the stabilised moisture content.

Teak furniture is perfectly suited to outdoor use due to its strength and durability, however it can be used indoors and looks fantastic in conservatories, bathrooms, kitchens, entryways and so on. Bear in mind that as teak is a natural product, if it's used indoors, household heating may alter the wood.

We strongly advise that all parasols are used with a suitable base stand, are closed during strong, windy conditions and are not left open and unattended at any time. Get the most out of your parasol by lowering the canopy when not in use, and using any cover that may have been supplied with some models.

Our parasol canopies have been treated with Scotchgard™ and so are water-resistant but not entirely waterproof. They will hold up against very fine, spitting rain although we do not recommend that they are used for rain. We also recommend that you lower your parasol whenever it is not in use and during periods of adverse weather conditions.

Our showroom, warehouse and offices are located at the top of Station Approach Road in Coulsdon, Greater London.

If you are coming by car, it’s easiest to approach from Coulsdon town centre/Brighton Road, and take the turning with the Pizza Express on the corner/opposite Waitrose. There is a small amount of customer parking available on the forecourt through the gates. Ring the doorbell and a member from our helpful sales team will greet you at the door.

A full container load (FCL) is a standard container used for bulk goods transportation. It does not necessarily mean it is full, but that the entire contents will belong to one party, as opposed to LCL or less than container loads, where the contents will belong to many senders.

Yes, for safety reasons you must always use a parasol with a suitable base, regardless of whether it’s being used through a table/parasol hole or not. You can find the exact specifications for our parasols and bases in the products section of this website.

Please note that our Berrington 120cm tables will not permit the use of a parasol base due to the low design of their pedestals. In this instance only, it is safe to use a parasol without a base.

If you find a defect in material or workmanship in any part or component that will impair the use of your furniture within the warranty period, we may repair, replace or refund the furniture. Outside of the warranty period, we may be able to repair your furniture for a small fee. We keep stock of screws and fixings so we should be able to send these to you at any time in the future for a small fee. We will always do our best to help you and to ensure you can enjoy your furniture, problem-free, for years to come.
